What does Poly stand for?

The word Poly is slang in the packaging industry.

Referring generally to the plastic material often known as polyethylene.

But in fact there are 7 different types of “poly”:

• Polyethylene Terephthalate (PETE or PET)
• High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE)
• Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)
• Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE)
• Polypropylene (PP)
• Linear Low-Density Polyethylene (LLDPE)
• Polystyrene or Styrofoam (PS)
